Not sure why it is it a problem that potential customers are informed of consulting studio's involvement in a game?
Some people will like it, others won't, but it shouldn't be hidden.

I like the look of this very much. The African setting is very lush and dangerous so this is great for an adventure game. I want to see how this one checks out.

Looking forward to the review for sure. I have a passing curiosity at this point, so I'll need more convincing.

@ninjapenguin1 The problem isn't customers knowing about SBI's involvement, the issue is the customers' reasoning for boycotting a product simply based on this consultant's involvement. Because their reasoning is based in bigotry.

@RareFan This is on SBI's detection list. I personally don't want to buy this game as there's over 9000 metroidvania's on the Switch alone competing for my attention and hard earned money and the said company in question. But if you and anyone else for that matter wanna buy this game and like how it looks/plays, hey I can't stop ya and not going to shame ya.

Ultimately, just like reading the ingredients label on a food product, this list is to show what's in it.

Funny how all of the hate and insults are coming from people defending the game. And not directed just at people that don't like SBI or even said they have anything against the game but anyone even mentioning that people are free to make their own decisions.

The Sweet Baby Inc detected list is fantastic, and I heard it’s expanding to include other DEI Blackrock-funded consultancies. I’m not supporting these companies and people that are ruining video games.

I'm from Africa, so I'm looking forward to the review for this. I'm not the biggest Metroidvania fan, but the gameplay looks decent from the video above.

I searched your exact quote on a bunch of social media and couldn’t find anything at all. Did you make it up? Where did you see it?

@DDFawfulGuy Part of being a good tolerant person is to be intolerant of people who are intolerant towards others for reasons having to do with their personhood. Bigots do not deserve tolerance, only scorn.

Been playing this on the Steam Deck all week and it runs great. The game visuals and music are amazing. Gameplay is your typical metroidvania but with some cool effects. In comparison to say Metroid Dread (base difficulty), it's easier — with less combat, slightly more puzzles — although I haven't encountered a boss fight yet so it's possible those will be more difficult. I'm not sure how long the game is (I've played 3.5 hours and I've yet to complete Act 1) but it's definitely not a quick game. And it's inexpensive. Unless things fall off drastically or it ends up only being 8 hours long it's my GotY so far.

What's funny is how SBI has been racist themselves, but I guess just calling them 'woke' and saying anyone who doesn't like them is a racist bigot is easier than actually looking into why people don't like them.
Now personally, I don't let things like SBI alone decide whether or not I play a game. They don't work on most of the games I'm interested in anyways so it's hardly my problem. But if you want an example of why some people don't want to touch anything made by SBI with a 10 foot pole then take a look at this.

Anyways, that's about as far into this as I want to go. This game doesn't look that great anyways and NL themselves just gave it a 6/10. But I suggest that if 'good people should scorn bigots' is how you think then maybe think a bit more before you label people.

@DDFawfulGuy If a person associates themselves with the incredibly stupid and bigoted SBI controversy others are going to assume they are a bigot. If a person is truly only concerned about artistic integrity in story telling there are other ways to express those concerns besides associating themselves with the very clearly bigoted SBI controversy. And bringing up SBI in the comments on an article about a video game set in Africa is definitely not going to get anyone the benefit of the doubt. If you cannot understand why people are (most likely correctly) assuming the worst of them then I don’t know what to tell you because you’re either arguing in bad faith or completely incapable of understanding context.

The game could be developed, funded, and marketed by flesh-eating Jovian lizards, for all I care. Is it fun to play?

I see a decent, inexpensive Metroidvania with middling-to-good reviews from a developer who clearly poured their heart and soul into it. And it runs well on the Switch with few compromises, unlike many other of its multiplatform contemporaries. That's all I could ask for.

The hypocrisy of calling anyone a bigot due to not liking SBI and even just bringing them up. I literally gave you a link that shows SBI are quite racist themselves, and you're telling me that if I don't assume anyone who mentions them is a bigot, that I don't understand context? Ridiculous.
You're making this a more intolerant and 'us vs them' thing than they are. If someone decides to boycott something, a game being set in Africa doesn't change that.
If you seriously think SBI just 'makes things more diverse' and anyone against what they stand for is a bigot, then I'd be happy to provide you with more evidence that they aren't the 'good people' you think they are. But if you haven't deduced that maybe, just maybe, there's a legitimate reason to not like the people at SBI or their work from the link I gave you, there's a good chance it's you who wants to remain ignorant and die on this hill despite any evidence to the contrary.
I'll say this again for good measure: automatically assuming someone is a bigot and treating them with scorn, not even because of their opinion, but even just mentioning a company was involved and people's right to know that, is the height of hypocrisy. You're not the good person you think are when you resort to hate so readily. And you'd know neither are SBI if you actually bothered to look into it.
