The third Mario Vs. Donkey Kong game is set to hit DSiWare next week.
At Nintendo's E3 press conference there were quite a few surprises: New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, a new Metroid game by Team Ninja... but what's also quite surprising is that they announced a completely new game which is being released next week!
Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! seems like a "Lite" version of Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis for DS. Once again, you do not control Mario, but rather Mini-Marios, Toads, Peaches and DKs, as you try to rescue Mario's original love interest, Pauline, from the clutches of DK.
In case you haven't played the second Mario Vs. Donkey Kong game, it's basically like Lemmings - the Minis will mindlessly march on until they find the exit, die, or you tell them to turn around. Your objective in each level is, of course, to get all Minis to the exit, avoiding Mario's long-time enemies such as Bob-ombs, Piranha Plants, Boos and Thwomps. As in MvsDK2, Minis March Again will also include a level editor, and again, you'll be able to share levels you've created with friends through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
The game will cost 800 DSi Points and will be available next Monday in North America, with a European release following later this year. Get those Nintendo Points Cards ready!

I hope we get a lot of levels. I can't find the original game and 800 is a bit steep if it's just a level editor and a few pre-made stages...

You know I'm not sure because of all those garbage Domo games coming out I might want to save some money to buy them all. Naw... I think I'll stay with this.

Hang on, is this basically the same game as Mario vs DK 2 but slightly stripped down?!

@LEGEND - Correct. It's more of Nintendo's "Little Bit of..." strategy they're using to fill the gaps in the DSiWare library. I wouldn't count on this being anything incredible if you already have MvDK2. It will probably be more interesting for those of us who don't have the DS title.
(Though I should really check into what I can get MvDK2 for. It might make more fiscal sense to purchase the cart.)
Edit: Hmm... Amazon sellers are selling MvDK2 for $40-$60 new. It seems that the DSiWare option might make a lot of sense.

Will level sharing require friend codes, or will there be some weekly levels or whatnot that you can instantly download?

They stopped the monthly download service for the DS card version a long time ago but the wifi trading still works with friends.

I'm confused as the "again" suggests there's more to it than just being a stripped down version.... ONM's info isn't much help either...

Personally, Mario vs. DK2 is one of my favorite DS games, so if I had a DSi, I would certainly buy this (stripped down or not).

I was desperately hoping this would be like Mario VS Donkey Kong for the Gameboy Advance or Donkey Kong '94 for the Gameboy Color. I was very disappointed with the second game.
Sigh...guess I'll have to go dig out Donkey Kong '94.

When Nintendo mentioned it in their presser, they talked almost as if there was an online hub for uploading content. I sure hope that happens. It could nicely compliment Flip Book where user generated stuff is concerned.
