A good effort, but does it hit the back of the net?

As the first Premium title available on DSiWare, there’s a certain amount of expectation surrounding Gameloft’s Real Football 2009. Do you get enough game for your 800 Points?First things first – Real Football 2009 is more or less a straight..

If it has more like Tecmo Bowl than Madden 2009, Then it's an instant buy. :)

EDIT: Oh................... It's a soccer game. :| Crap.

It sounds fairly good, but if it's just a cheap, simple little mobile phone port, it will likely get shot down by critics immidiately.

On another note though (repost from the Pop Superstar article), the PEGI rating has now been removed from the 'site, so goodness knows when we'll be expecting it now.

Also: where did you guys get the DSi font from, WWW? I really like it :)

Isn't there an actual retail purchase DS game called Real Football 2009? That got generally decent reviews didn't it? Anyway, I think I'll consider this all things being well

Cant really see how this is going to be any good with 3d graphics and a limited file size? If they went down the retro sensible soccer type route then I would consider it!!

lol, I'm american but not ignorant.
Football is what soccer is call outside the USA.
American Football is what other countries call Football.

I play football, the real stuff not American Football :p
This game looks ok I have it for the DS.

Downloaded this, and I must say I'm really impressed by the amount of content it has for an 800 point game. I haven't played the retail version of the game, but I doubt that they have taken much out because this seems to have as much content as a full retail football game should have.

Downloaded this too. Handling feels good after a few matches so far. First I wanted to wait for the next FIFA retail game but this game has everything i need for a quick fun soccer game on the way. One funny mistake is that there are no lincenses and the frankfurter player "Flick" became "Fick" (which means "Fuck" in German). :D

Here's the description for the DS version of the game:
Exclusive Nintendo DS stylus controls allow you to easily perform the most amazing soccer moves on the Touch Screen
A multiplayer mode to face up to 3 friends in heated tournaments (Multi-Card Play)
6 different leagues and 198 teams (national and club) with real players' names thanks to the FIFPro license
Experience the atmosphere of 12 great soccer stadiums including Milan, Manchester, and Madrid
Manage the team's strategy using the Nintendo DS stylus in real time during the match

So it doesn't sound like much has changed at all, if anything. Either way: it's not like the original cost much more, since Amazon (US) are selling it for $14.99, and Play.com (UK) are selling it for £9.99.

Either way, this game is a bargain, and after a go, I'd highly recommend it. In fact, the only thing wrong with it is the fact that multiplayer requires each person to have the game. Good work, Gameloft!

I got my DSi at launch alongside a couple of thousand points to add onto my shop account and was REALLY hoping for Doctor Mario on Friday... when this came on instead I was dissapointed but thought what the heck and bought it anyway.

Man was I suprised. It really feels like a full retail game, the DSi exlusive features are a nice touch too. Tons of content, controls well and some nice features. I went shopping today and saw the retail game selling for £24.99 in GAME and at a fraction of a cost at 800 points / £6 I dont think you can go wrong in picking this game up.
If this is a sign of what kind of games we can get for 800 points then I am very happy...

...I still would have prefered Doctor Mario though. lol

I can't decide whether to buy this, or wait for Mighty Flip Champs.

Any help?

Fun game. Worth the points. Good to have when you want to either pick up and play for 5 minutes or sit down and try and win a cup.
