Well, folks, another week has come and gone. In terms of straight-up news, it was undoubtedly a bit of a quiet one... until it wasn't! Yes, at the tail-end of the week, Nintendo decided to announce Everybody 1-2 Switch!, a sequel to the polarising launch game, 1-2 Switch!, launching on June 30th, 2023.
Not only that, but we also got word that two pairs of pastel-themed Joy-Con controllers will also be launching on the very same day, so that's nice!
In other news, the folks over at Critical Role have taken on a 'one-shot' tabletop RPG special featuring Tears of the Kingdom's very own Hyrule. Speedrunners also need to check out a recent video of one player beating the latest Zelda in less than an hour - what?! That's insane.
It was also revealed that Sonic's co-creator Yuji Naka may be facing more than two years in jail following his insider trading scandal, while it looks like Capcom's long-time producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya has left the company after nearly 30 years.
Now, it's time to relax and play some games. Our writers lay out their weekend plans below, and we want to hear from you too!
Jim Norman, Staff Writer
I don’t deny that I have been wrong about this before, but I really do think that I am getting to the end of Tears of the Kingdom’s main story now. My goal is to roll credits on this behemoth and then go off and play something else for a while before coming back and starting the real game of exploring the other 99% of the world that I feel I’ve missed so far.
So that will be my weekend — predictable as it is — of playing Zelda. Maybe next week I will break the chain… Or maybe I will find out that I actually have a huge amount of story left and I’m going to be playing this game forever. Oh god, it’s definitely the latter, isn’t it…
Ollie Reynolds, Staff Writer
I'm still on a break from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom; it's become more of an extended break at this point. Instead, I'm still working my way through Bioshock and I've also booted up Disco Elysium. The debacle around ZA|UM has, somehow, made me eager to play it again.
Over on the Series X, I'm playing through Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It's such a wonderful game; I love it.
Craig Reid, Contributer
Ahoy folks, this weekend I’ll be getting stuck into the dark and disturbed universe of Diablo IV. This time around I’m building a devastating, chonky, werebear druid. Outside of my escapades across Sanctuary, I’m keen to check out Game Grumps’ new horror game, Homebody. I’m a long-time fan of the Grumps games, having dabbled in plenty of Dream Daddy (for roughly two years the Dream Daddy theme song was my ringtone).
I’m also going for a little road trip this weekend, so best pack my OLED Switch for the occasional Tears of the Kingdom session.
Happy gaming!
Gonçalo Lopes, Reviewer
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is still on my “to-do list”, I have only gloriously cleansed a handful of levels for The Emperor and really want to finish it. However, it was a stealth release of H.R. Project Games GyroGunner, an unexpected sequel to their more vanilla but no less stellar shmup GyroBlade that has my attention this weekend. This time it's a twin-stick shooter affair with plenty of bang for very little buck. Don’t skip it, especially if you like a good reflexes challenge and high-score chases.
Game of the week is still The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It has taken over my life. Spent nearly twenty minutes alone every session scanning daily amiibo drops.
Zion Grassl, Senior Video Producer
I never really feel like I have all that much time these days for video games, but maybe that's because I'm always comparing and reminiscing about how much I invested in them as a kid? Somehow though, I've managed to sink almost a hundred hours into The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom within just its first three weeks, but oddly I don't feel like that's really that outlandish given that so many of our readers and viewers are spending all of their time with it too!
So to no one's surprise, I'll be diving back into the land of Hyrule yet again. Just like I do every weekend, and likely will do for the foreseeable future. Getting this lost in a Zelda game again is pure bliss and I wouldn't wish it any other way.
Alana Hagues, Deputy Editor
After a few weeks of missing WAYP... I'm still playing Tears of the Kingdom, basically exclusively. I don't think I should share my hour count at this point, but I've convinced myself I'm going to 100% this game. Ask me about that in a few weeks, particularly after a particular PS5 RPG releases...
That's all from me! Happy gaming! And I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine.
Thank you for reading! You can fill out the following poll to let us know what game you will be maining this weekend and then head to the comments to share any other titles that you hope to take on.

This weekend is the last weekend before the move, so I only have my Switch + Tears of the Kingdom in it and my trusty iPad for drawing! Everything else is in the new home
So, I will be building the 5th Sage in TotK and I will be drawing my hydralisk!
Happy gaming everyone!
More Tears of the Kingdom of course. Might jump back into Splatoon 3 as well with the new season.
Waiting for the Disney Dreamlight Valley update and a patch for Cassette Beasts, so I'll be playing Monster Viator as a gap filler.
Home alone this weekend with the other half at a conference in Switzerland so absolutely more TOTK until the wee hours of the morning probably... 35 hours in and I still haven't done my first temple. I'm just pottering around, visiting villages to see what has changed since BOTW and doing shrines. But I WILL do the first temple this weekend, that's the goal.
Thinking about also firing up my Sega Saturn and playing some Nights into Dreams to break up the Zeldathon...
Finishing up the zelda shrines today and i just got ender lillies so i should get that going.
Beat Superhot VR earlier in the week but i haven't tried the original not VR one so i want to give that a go
Tears of the Kingdom for me! I got my 120th (last) light root last night so now i'm going to work thriugh some shrines, I only have 40 so far.
@deecas the journey to the wind temple is one of my favourite parts of the game so far, enjoy!!!
I have just started Nier Automata on the Switch. Seems pretty linear so far and there is quite a noticeable delay between pressing the button and seeing the action on screen. But the tone, storytelling and characters are pretty neat so far. Let's see where this is going and how long it keeps me busy.
Good old splatoon 3. Trying out some new weapons although I still suck with anything other than aerospray mg. Love the game though. Might play a smaller game too, not sure what, ahead of picking Octopath back up again soon.
Also been playing a bit of Desta on iPad (via Netflix) which is kind of a fun diversion. Cool to hear proper Manc accents in a game! (Not that I’m from Manchester myself)
@Yalloo I started and completed Nier Automata in January and loved it. A really fantastic game that mixes a number of different gaming types together really well. There are many different endings with three main playthroughs from the perspective of different characters, it's worth doing that if you're enjoying it.
I played Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town PS4 All Day Long. 🤠
I won the Spring Horse Derby Race and Cooking Exhibition in year 2. 😁
Still building my money and waiting for Summer to boost the relationship with Kai until Red Heart.
Only one game! Super
Mega baseball 4. The best sport games series ever. After sensible soccer.
I ought to be playing Zelda TOTK and finishing up Fire Emblem Engage but suddenly System Shock Remake on PC was released and my plans for the weekend changed drastically!
More Splatoon 3 since today is an event day. When I feel like it I will continue with Metroid Prime Remastered. The game is great, especially the atmosphere. Now I understand the hype for Metroid Prime 4.
Happy gaming everyone! And Happy Birthday @octokid !
@MarioBrickLayer Thanks for that. If I enjoy the game I will definitely be looking for more things/challenges to do. I had heard that there is as many endings as letters in the alphabet, am curious how that will play out.
Oh, I also wanted to point out how the music is pretty unique in this game, at least so far. Love the choir together with the strings and guitars.
Played a bit of ToTK today but I'll mainly be on Diablo 4. That game would've been sublime on Switch..
Probably just some Animal Crossing as my birthday is today (June 3) and Minecraft.
This weekend i'll be playing
Animal Crossing (NGC)
Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC)
HAZAMA_QUEEN (PC)
Muze Dash (PC)
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (NS)
Beside the usual itches involving blades, autos, runes and portias, I have a lot of other variably oft-mentioned ones on Switch, including a whole range of other JRPGs (FFXII and WoFF, TMS and Nocturne, Super Neptunia and DerQ, Fuga and Mary Skelter 2, Minstrel Song and Cross Code, Eternal Radiance and Disgaea - you name it), more western RPG stuff like Dying Light, Skyrim and Kingdoms of Amalur, less RPG stuff like BotW, Starlink and Astral Chain (edit: doing Starlink dirty here, it should qualify as an RPG alright)... and whatever may elbow its way inbetween, from Cozy Grove and Residual to Grid Autosport, Bioshock 2 and/or Borderlands 2.
Outside Switchland, there's an increased number of ambitions on the handheld front thanks to the arrival of my replacement N3DSXL battery which, on top of the recurrent 2DS-backed plans like Fantasy Life and Endless Frontier, adds quite likely returns to the realms of Valentia, Etrian Odyssey Untold, Ever Oasis and maybe even Pokemon Gold - while the Vita sessions will probably continue to revolve around Gravity Rush, God Eater, Eternia and Xenogears with not improbable bits of Flatout Head On, Gran Turismo and SotN inbetween.
PS4 will be seeing another delve into NFS Rivals and Grid Legends (on a related note, EA nuked my account out of the blue and googling the precedents revealed that their support isn't known for explaining or even frankly having any idea why - but it was just a different email spare I tied to my Murican PSN account after deciding to play the game and harvest its trophies towards PS Stars thereon, so all I've lost is some multiplayer I didn't see myself tackling in any visible future anyway😅😆) whereas my PC backlog is getting split after repeated failures to get RE2 and Grid 2 running on Deck after all. The aforesaid two will have to be dealt with on the laptop after all (I won't deny having a half-mind to just speed through the former's both playthroughs with all the DLC cheese I've got so I can try my luck with RE3 remake and then FINALLY dive back into the bulk of the RE backlog I have amassed on Switch) while Deck is teasing my usual gluttony with Horizon and FFXV, NFS Payback/Undercover and GTA 4, Just Cause 2 and 3, Code Vein and Mass Effect, Xillia and Eternal Sonata, FFXIII and Xenoblade X, Dishonored and Prey, Xenosaga and Ar Tonelico... I even put Binary Domain on board instead of a few more failed sideloaders like Fuel and Test Drive Unlimited (the latter won't even detect my gamepad'a triggers on the laptop so at this point I might really be better off waiting for Switch's Solar Crown port). Backlogs and first world problems have a weird relationship... but then again, what is a backlog if not a first world problem in itself?
Card Shark on my RTX 4090.
Tears of the kingdom.
This week I will be mostly crying
Tears of the Kingdom
Pokémon Channel
Hate to say it but I feel abit burned out on tears of the kingdom after getting to Hyrule. Really enjoyed the sky island intro though. Question to those playing the game, do you spend much time in Hyrule compared to the sky islands? I much prefer sky islands to Hyrule, think BotW was enough Hyrule for me for now
Diablo IV and Splatoon 3 for me this weekend! Massively looking forward to it.
More Tears of the Kingdom, was in California taking a break and jumped back into it after 8 days yesterday - finally went up to Zora's Domain after 50 hours of randomness, did some great caves and shrines last night, it was good to revisit the place after a few years absence!
On PS5 i will be trying to complete God of War Ragnarok according to my console it's says I'm 88% done so not long left now. I will also be playing some Humanity which is fun but also challenging especially if you want all those goldies.
On Switch it will be some more Zelda TOTK, Bayonetta Origins and Splatoon 3. Been playing splatoon a lot lately and it's starting to get to me now that they only rotate the stages evey two hours, with how fast matches are in this game playing the same two maps for two hours does get boring.
On Xbox I will playing some more Phoenix Point and Hi-Fi Rush
@deecas I used to love Nights on the Sega Saturn. My brother and I were locked into a neverending score battle. Do you have the 3d controller? That thing was awesome.
My krikzz GBA everdrives putting some work in lately. Probably scoop Dango Dash (gbc) by incube8 games, also playing splatoon and more re4 on the big screen. Have a great weekend everyone
The last 2 weeks I've been continuing my "Handheld Fighting Games Quest" (don't take that too seriously ) after a three month hiatus, and by accident stumbled over SNK's King of Fighters series this monday. I ended up buying 97, the seminal 98, 99 and 2002.
97 was quite ok. 98 is really good but slightly overrated imo. 99 I bought to try out the Striker system and because the stages looked great. My favorite this far though is 2002 with great looking stages and some more interesting fighters/characters overall (plus it plays more or less like 98 - just a bit better imo)
Zelda, natch. Well, my goal was to find the next disturbance and visit a couple more hillside tear loacations...but I'm currently lost inside Hyrule Castle and not too sure if I should be here or not lol. This game is so wonderful.
Imagine spending 6 years making a game and folk done with it after a couple of weeks! I'd be gutted
On Switch i'll be playing TOTK, and on PS5 i'll be playing Diablo 4 early access and maybe Hogwarts Legacy.
Etrian Odyssey HD I didn't even realize how much I had missed playing this series until I started this, just reached the 2nd stratum of the game and I've been having an absolute blast, it's so much better now that there's proper auto mapping and I don't need to look at the tiny handheld screen.
Been trying a bit of a different thing from the usual strick party of 5 where I'm instead switching around from my currently around 10 units I think depending on what's useful and what kind of weapons and armor I have available at the moment.
Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction on PS3. Am really enjoying it. Also going to check out Splatoon 3 new season and my weekly Ring Fit Adventure workout.
5 hours into Diablo IV and loving it!
No Man's Sky on Mac, for me. (Available on Steam)
Oh, and TotK.
Oh no.
...
AGameAWeek is failing!!
It’s gonna be zelda for at least another month
I still have Zelda for weeks - specially counting I'll have less time for playing for a couple of months. Happy gaming!
This weekend I’m still playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I had to take a four day hiatus since last Friday due to work and family obligations, but I was finally able to pick it back up yesterday, and I made some fun progress.
So far, I’m roughly 80hrs in. I’ve finally unlocked the entire base map and have completed all of the main dungeons/temples. I’ve gotta say - the temple in Gerudo Town was absolutely brilliant. I loved the entire quest line.
Regardless of the hours I’ve poured in, I’m still being surprised by little secrets here and there. In fact, I randomly found the auto-build feature, which in itself was a fun discovery. And with this unearthing, it brings forth two more quests that are extremely valuable to you.
Speaking of, I have fully upgraded my Purah Pad, found the last geoglyph I needed, and retrieved the Master Sword - a quest that simply gave me chills. I’ve also restored The Lost Woods and The Great Deku Tree, bested Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan, and unlocked all memories.
Now it’s time to fight Ganondorf, but before I do I’m going to spend more time in the depths and explore more mysterious things down there. I’m also planning on obtaining each domain’s prized weapon(s) by scouring for diamonds, and tackling side quests.
Overall, I’m simply blown away by how deep this game is, and how there are mysteries around every corner that continuously amaze me. Here is to another week of playing this masterpiece.
More MK8 Deluxe but also spending time with Splatoon 3 given stuff like the challenge happens today. Things seem to quieten down with new Nintendo stuff for awhile after Big Run next weekend so that'll probably be when I start TotK.
@Zuljaras spoilers??
TOTK on my OLED😁 I’ve somehow managed to do what feels like everything out of order. It just keeps happening, and I’m starting to get frustrated. Frustrations aside, I absolutely adore this game, and the thought of moving on to something else feels sad.
And killing those Gloom Hands provided a real surprise💀
Tonight I'm not seeing my friends since we met yesterday as it was a holiday here in Italy so I'll continue with my schedule of alternating between Tears of the Kingdom (got to Rito Village and started the main story quest there, 22 Shrines, 2 Lightroots and 26 Koroks down), Persona 5 (started my second and last infiltration into the fifth Palace), Engage (did Lucina's Paralogue and Chapter 12, 12 Chapters, 3 Paralogues, 5 Divine Paralogues and all Fell Xenologue down), Scarlet (got to the city where the Normal Gym is, still 4 Gyms, 3 Titans and 3 Team Stars down), Sparks of Hope (did several side quests while going towards the next main one on fifth planet), Return to Dream Land (did all missions in Merry Magoland except not really since 20 extra ones got unlocked by doing so, Story complete, gold in all Challenge Stages, Magolor Epilogue complete, Arena complete and all missions in Merry Magoland) and Advance Wars (tutorial and 12 missions down, 8 S and 4 A ranks)!
Very much hooked on Persona 4 Golden, which is everything I could have hoped. My only complaint is that I keep agonising about failing to maximise social links and stats as I go, when I really need to just relax and enjoy the game. It’s not like normal mode is so hard that I need to min-max everything. Might just end up YouTubing any missed endings. Great game.
Yesterday was my birthday, so I decided to treat myself to a Splatoon 3 Switch OLED console to add to my collection. It's easily my favorite of all the special edition OLED systems. So over the weekend I'll be downloading 1tb worth of games/updates to it. I just did this last month with TOTK Switch OLED 😳.
Other then that, I'm still playing through Breath of the Wild before I start TOTK.
Series X- GTA 4 & Ghostwire Tokyo
PS5- Dead Island 2, Sakuna of Rice and Ruin
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Take a guess, I dare ya ...
Still gotta kick Ganondorf's sexy ***.
Still Zelda TotK here. I'm taking this really slow and its hard to explain how much I'm enjoying the ride. Everywhere you go there's something new to explore and see. It never gets boring and I have no idea when I'll put it down
Advance Wars Hard Mode.
Tears of the Kingdom (fire temple)
Animal Crossing
Street Fighter 6 (PS5)
For me it’s Lego Star Wars . Loving it so far ! I’m about 40% in at Phantom Menace …
Not a fan of cooking in Zelda 🤣😅
Still working on the same games: Tales of Arise and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. I've been trying to beat these games for a while but I swear life has just been so busy lately 😅
More TOTK. This might just become one of my favorite games ever, and I never really cared for BOTW all that much, I don’t know what’s different.
Elsewhere, I started a playthrough of New Super Mario Bros. Wii with my brother, and he enjoys it. It’s always a treat to play childhood games with him. We’re also playing Lego Star Wars:The Complete Saga and Yoshi’s Crafted World.
I played Cruisn’ Blast earlier in the day with my kids. I’ve been thinking it’s time to do another run through Pokemon Fire Red so there is that as well. Other than that, maybe some Mario Party Superstars with the wife.
@Ploppy, yes I do indeed have the 3D controller! Best way to play Nights Happy gaming and happy weekend!
I am mainly playing BOTW. I have revealed the whole map now and have 12 hearts plus 2 stamina boosts. It's almost time to start trying to tackle the main quests, I guess.
When I need a break from Hyrule I am playing Project X and 40 Winks on the Evercade.
Nintendo Switch:
Corpse Party(2021) – finally completed 5th chapter on Extra End. I understood why I haven't gotten it before – I was too busy collecting name tags, sigh Well... Also, there was 2 options during the Extra End, and I had chosen the 1st option. I'll choose 2nd option during the another run. And, I completed 10th ExChap.
Tribal Pass – well... Did few unsuccessful and successful runs in both 2 modes.
ACA NEOGEO The Last Blade 2 – redownloaded the game. Played for a few times Hi Score and Caravan modes. Completed Arcade Mode as Hyô Amano on "melancholic" ending(look at SNK Wiki, if you want to understand what I'm talking about). I haven't planned it at first, but did it. Beated Kôryû on 3rd try, after service receives(Kôryû lost 25% of HP in the 1st round). Played inferior(due to censorship) USA version. I will play JP version for future playthroughs.
Well... That's all what I've played on this week. Have a nice gaming week, everyone.
IRL has been beyond nuts over the past week, so...not nearly as much gaming as I'd like. At least my Saturday is lax for a change. Most of my time is still going to Tears of the Kingdom - 50+ hours in, one dungeon down (Stormwind Ark), 44 Shrines completed, and 156 Korok seeds found - as well as the occasional dive into my side game, WarioWare: Get It Together! Namely for the moments where I only have a small block of time to play. I do enjoy the WarioWare series, even if I'm not fully on board with this entry's gimmick. It's pretty fun all the same.
Happy gaming!
Hmm, not much on the Switch unfortunately. But I will be all over Street Fighter 6.
I am doubling up on Zelda: mainly TOTK but also Oracle of Seasons for my modded Game Boy Color!
@Mrkittyhead that is why I phrased it like that so only people who are already there or past that could understand
For now I'm playing a game of enjoying the Sunshine. After that it'll be more Zelda. I'll also be trying out Street Fighter 6 along with Hi-Fi Rush and Bayonetta 2.
@shgamer Well... If you like fighting games and/or SNK's fighting games, then... I do recommend you to play The Last Blade/Bakumatsu Rôman: Gekka no Kenshi duology(NGPC game is kinda demake of the 2nd game), Garô: Mark of the Wolves, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers, SAMURAI SHODOWN V Special, if you haven't played them before... They are available through ACA NEOGEO Archives as well...
More TotK for me! I should’ve been playing more Splatoon 3 this week because of the new season and while the few rounds I played were fun I wanted to go back to TotK. I guess the game had a big effect on me
Let's be real here, I can't even attempt anything else other than totk at this point. I've tried, but it's pointless. So pretty much just totk this weekend. What's funny is that I'm 80hrs in, and haven't even started the actual game yet. Aside from tears collecting, no main story stuff has been completed.
Sleepless nights of Glitch galore..... TOTK
Breath of the Wild and Sonic Mania on Switch, and maybe some Hollow Knight on the laptop. I learned how to install mods on the latter, so I may tinker around with that
Mostly Zelda. I stumbled upon an underground area that just won't stop and I love it. I'm trying to keep a mental map of which turns I've taken. I know I have to go back for at least one thing which fortunately was pretty early on. I have a feeling I know what's at the end of this tunnel.
I'll be playing Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass
I'll be surprised when my answer isn't Zelda
@Vyacheslav333 I already have Garou: MotW on my Vita (and yeah it's pretty good I admit) and I'm not really into Samurais/Sword/Weapon fighting fighting games.
But yeah, I'm still considering getting another Fatal Fury game (Garou: MotW is a Fatal Fury game after all) since you recommend it, I might consider getting Real Bout FF2 NC (the non Garou: MotW Fatal Furys are kind of interesting with their "lane shifting" mechanic)
Probably won't be playing much this weekend plus today is a family member's birthday so...
@shgamer «I already have Garou: MotW on my Vita (and yeah it's pretty good I admit) and I'm not really into Samurais/Sword/Weapon fighting fighting games.»
Oh, I understood.
«But yeah, I'm still considering getting another Fatal Fury game (Garou: MotW is a Fatal Fury game after all) since you recommend it, I might consider getting Real Bout FF2 NC (the non Garou: MotW Fatal Furys are kind of interesting with their "lane shifting" mechanic)»
Well, Real Bout FF2: The Newcomers was the last game in Garô Densetsu/Fatal Fury series before Garô: MotW, if I don't confuse. And It has most of the characters from the franchise, and playable characters' roster is the most biggest in the franchise. When my laptop was "alive" and I was a PC gamer, I completed the game a few times by different characters, if I don't confuse... It was a long time ago...
I have more constructive and useful things to do when the weather is this good; like sitting outside in an open space in my forest doing absolutely nothing, except for getting up and changing my spot because the our respective position towards the sun changes. Oh and taking walks of several hours during the cooler hours of the day, with the dogs. In the evening I do play Mario & Rabbits Sparks of Hope now, Towerof DOOOOOOOM (give or take a few O's), hoping the Rayman DLC will arrive soon. Amazing game, but I like some aspects of the previous game better (such as the music, especially the mid-boss theme and the Phantom boss opera music).
@Vyacheslav333 Just watched a bit of a walkthrough of Real Bout FF2 NC on Youtube played with the Hon-Fu character. It looks really good (love some good Kung Fu action - Fei Long is my second favorite character in the Street Fighter games)
Will definitely get the game when I've worked my way through my King of Fighters games. Thanks for the recommendation!
I'll be finishing The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve today, most likely. I'm currently on the Final Chapter: The Resolve of Ryunosuke Naruhodo. Very good game with some delightfully unpredictable plot twists. I can't think of a better way to conclude my three-month-long Ace Attorney marathon.
Mega Man Battle Network 1 and Dr. Mario 64
Taking a break from Persona 4 and poking around at other games to see what suits my mood. I have a tonne of consensus "great" games in the backlog but I have a hard time getting through any of them if I'm not in the right frame of mind. Maybe one of the Ori games finally?
Also Mario Kart and Smash with the kidlets.

Well, Hon-Fu is quite interesting character imo, if talking about design and weapon's choice, at least. A nunchaku user with pyrokinesis power. He's the only one nunchaku user in (traditional) fighting games that I know and remember. And he looks like Jackie Chan.

Wow, okay. 🙂
Persona all the way this weekend. Playing some Persona 5 Strikers, I'm up to the third jail and really enjoying it so far! It's definitely a different game than Persona 5 Royal, but it's been really fun figuring out combos and spending more time with the cast. I'm also going through Persona 4, but at a much slower pace since I mostly want to focus on Strikers.
It's really nice to read that pretty much everyone plays Tears of the Kingdom differently, irrespective of how much free time they have as well. I know that could be said for a lot of games, but it's really nice. Some people savor every last morsel and take their time exploring and not 'progressing' in the traditional sense, while others have been working hard to do story/shrines to get themselves buffed up to fully explore later on. It's really wonderful to see the same game being played so many different ways.
Still Zelda. 115 hours in. Still have a number of shrines to find but I think I'm gonna wrap up the story and put it down for a bit; I'm finally getting the urge to play other things. I did download We ♥️ Katamari last night and completed a few stages, and I'm gonna shift my focus to that very soon.
@Aispen niceee good metroidvania game mate
Playing totk with links awakening remake on the side(finally got it!)
I’m still making my way through Tears of the Kingdom lately. I’m 40 hours in, but I still have so much to do. I basically can’t play the game for less than 2 hours because there’s just too much that I want to accomplish whenever I play! I might start playing a platformer of some sort to serve as a bit of a break from such a massive adventure game, but who knows. I may also try to play some Splatoon 3 to see the new update(s), since I haven’t really played a ton of the game since the first season.
Xbox Series X --Diablo 4-- Been waiting for this game since its announcement. Thinking of going with a Shape-shifting Druid this time around.
Miscellaneous games this week:
I wish we could vote for more than one game in the poll.
Currently just got to the Phazon Mines in hard mode Metroid Prime Remastered. Tried my first run to that first save station and got quite far before I died. This stretch of game on hard mode may be the death of me, it was hard enough on normal lol.
Other than that, I’m quite far into The Messenger. Must be nearing the end.
And Super Mario 3D World I’m still trying to get more green stars but failing lol. Around the 320 mark atm.
@Yalloo you need to beat it seven times! Then it's okay...ish.
TotK and Boltgun. Loving them both.
@Bucket I'm looking forward to getting an Evercade. They look cool.
Well for me this weekend is a interesting one. Probably gonna skip a session of TOTK tonight and just dedicate a whole 5 hour session to the newly launched Street Fighter 6. I’ve been waiting for this game since the State of Play that showed it off for real last year and I’m just so happy it’s here. I can’t personally wait to play as my new favorite character the French model Manon. Tho I do wanna make some time for TOTK obviously but I think after this weekend it’s gonna go on the back burner. I think starting Monday I wanna tackle Fire Emblem Engage full time. I know some of these later chapters are long, annoying and difficult so I’m not exactly looking forward to it but I am looking forward to the story and the DLC. Otherwise it’s my birthday this week on the day of Summer Game Fest so I’m looking for two things. 1. Some really great and cool announcements there. And 2. Hopefully snagging a copy of Dead Island 2 from a family member for my birthday. Last year it was Horizon Forbidden West. On the anime front this week it’s some Hells Paradise, Mashle, Demon Slayer, My Home Hero and Café Terrace as usual. Happy Gaming y’all and have a great weekend.
Another weekend of Zelda for me!
Golf Story, Little Witch Nobeta, and Grandia.
@LikelySatan yeah, if you like retro or indie games there's a lot to like.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of BotW, but Tears fixed most of the things I disliked. I can’t believe how much time I’ve sunk into TotK,
Exploring finally feels worthwhile and exciting. Making a direct sequel was brilliant, it gave Nintendo six more years to iterate on what they already built and the results are impressive.
I'll be getting back into some games on my 3ds I never finished, as well rhythm heaven fever when it arrives in the mail later today.
Son is playing 3DS games, daughter is playing Tears of the Kingdom.
I'm over on PS5 playing Jedi: Survivor on New Game+ and also going back to Jedi: Fallen Order on New Game+. (Jedi: Survivor does New Game+ much better by giving you all that is needed to just enjoy combat — remixed — and the main storyline as directly as possible, will be replaying this one several times, I think.)
Will probably take a break before going back to TotK. A little too close to the open world play of Jedi: Survivor, for now, and I have to spend more real life time with family and friends, haha.
@Zuljaras Nice Hydralisk! I like to see the good old RTS genre still inspiring some art. I always going back to Zerg as my main, though it has been a while now since I've played.
Hope all goes well in your move.
@aaronsullivan Thank you! After the move in about a week I will start something really special with my N64 and StarCraft 64
Mario Galaxy and Harvestella.
I'm now on Chapter 4 for Harvestella...I've been taking my time, just fishing and doing side quests instead of the main quest. Those are the two things that make you the most money.
I haven't played Mario Galaxy since I almost beat it on the Wii so I'm having a blast with it. I've had it sitting there since 3D All Stars came out, I don't know why I took so long to play it.
One of the few Switchers not knee deep in TotK. Feels bad man. Just never had the interest. Love Skyrim? Jumping back into that and WH:Boltgun lately.
More Overwatch 2 than I wanted to, apparently.
I just want to squeeze as much life as i can out of TOTK before moving on to my backlog, i know that when i detox from this Zelda overdose i will be back at it.
Happy gaming everyone!!
After a hiatus, I'm back playing on weekends.
After playing Mega Man: The Wily Wars last year, I came to the realization that I like the classic Mega Man series. So, I decided to get the games available on the Wii U Virtual Console prior to the eShop closure. I had already Mega Man 1 from my pre Smash 4 days, so I got Mega Man 2-7 and Mega Man & Bass and decided to play them in order.
Right now I'm starting Mega Man 6.
My idea is going in order and include the arcade games: 1->2->3->Wily Tower in The Wily Wars->4->5->6->7->The Power Battle->The Power Fighters->8->MM&B->9->10->11
MM&B will be played after MM8, 8-11 will be played on Switch, though.
Beyond that, I'm also playing my two Arcade Archives purchases: Tetris: The Absolute- The Grand Master 2 Plus and The King of Fighters '97
TotK again. 10 hearts. 3 stamina wheels. 50 shrines (and 30 others found, but incomplete). Two regional phenomena.
I’ve been exploring the Depths and had an interesting time in the south-east where I found a Blue-White Frox, which killed me instantly, and the Spirit Temple, which seems to be locked for now. I suspect it’s related to the Guidance quest I started rather early (by going through the super thick clouds to get to Dragon Head Island) and have avoided progressing further.
I’ll probably do a few side quests and then move to phenomena three this week.
Just got to the Blue Dragon in Lunar: The Silver Star. I feel like I can see the end of this awesome game just peaking over the horizon and want to savor every minute before it arrives.
Dragon builders 2 / Super Robot wars 30
Little Busters! Converted Edition
@KingofSalvagers04 Make sure to look up a guide on how to unlock the true ending of Persona 4 Golden. It takes many steps to do it. I just finished it a few days ago before starting Little Busters.
@Krull I maxed out social stats by October and was level 99 by November along with a level 99 Trumpeter and Ishtar.
Surprised I was the first one to vote Fortnite. Heyo, I guess I'll take the cringelady crown, thank you. You're too kind.
Other than Genshin Impact (as usual), maybe some Tears of the Kingdom. Other than that, I also plan on playing God of War: Ragnarok on my new PS5, which I won in a raffle at a work party the other day. That, and the pre-installed game Astro's Playroom, which kind of serves as a tech demo for the system.
Donkey Kong Country 3.
Played some Borderlands 2. But leaving for vacation tomorrow with the wife and kids. But once I’m back, I’ll be picking up ToTK.
@JohnnyMind we have a really similar taste in games. I salute you sir you are a man of taste 🫡
Started Diablo 3 this week and loving it. Still playing my favourites Motogp 22 and WRC love these games. Hoping that Motogp 23 is good on the Switch before splashing the cash.
Oh and some Zelda!
@kid_keo Thank you! As you can see I'm mostly a fan of Nintendo games since I had almost exclusively (had also an Xbox 360 for a relatively short time) practically all Nintendo consoles also thanks to my older siblings (we only missed the Virtual Boy not surprisingly and the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, only had the Color and SP respectively), but not exclusively as you can tell from Persona (I'm so happy I can finally play it now that it came to Switch)!
@JohnnyMind nice! My story is similar to that too. I also am a big anime fan + love persona! (I rather shamefully bought a ps5 just to play persona 5!)
I’ll see you around mate
Not that I get a weekend, cause I work in a gaming store and we don't get weekends, (currently typing while working shhh...) but in my evenings and monday, I will be plowing ahead with ToTK same as everyone else, 2 Dungeons in, heading down to the South West this week to eventually tackle the Gerudo event, but I doubt I'll get anywhere near there until next weekend!
Online I've been sticking with some classic Fall Guys, and a little Stardew with a group of friends.
This week i'm gonna set up my PC for looks left, looks right, gets up close to whisper... Emulation... I wanna start playing the 3DS Zeldas again after I finish ToTK but I can't be dealing with digging out my 2DSXL.
Been playing several castlevania games.
Just finished Bravely Default 2 and had an absolute blast with it…obnoxious endings aside, it was great!
Just started XCOM 2, which I have never played and it definitely seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
Im going to be playing ToTK for the next year I imagine. I am playing it like I did BoTW, I just pick something I’m going to do and head in that direction but stop at anything interesting along the way. I finished one dungeon and am just doing other random things, I just started really digging in to the newspaper quests and love it. I wont finish the storyline until probably a year from now and I love playing that way.
I can finally say I'm playing something! Right now I'm playing The Legend of Zelda... The Minish Cap. Suprised? So far the game has actually been pretty good, though I think I'm already more than halfway done.
TotK. 50 hours in since launch 3 weeks ago which is nuts considering it took me that long to finish Xenoblade 3 last year and that took me months to reach that number. Even more nuts is how little I’ve done in that time…1 dungeon, 42 shrines. The entire north west and south west sections of the map are completely unexplored, I might have mapped about a third of the depths and I’ve explored next to nothing of the sky besides the odd island here and there. But at no point have I ever felt like I’m wasting my time playing, I’m always doing something. I’ve always got a goal while I’m playing. It’s a game that just keeps on giving, I love it.
105h on Tears of the Kingdom, 56 Shirnes completed, 11 Lightroot acessed, 104 Korok found, focusing on helping the Stable Trotle helping the Great Fairies, beat my first Gleeok on the bridge of Hylia.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land for me. Decided to go light-hearted before getting into the more serious Metroid Dread. Just a good, fun game.
As expected The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom has the overwhelming majority of votes. I haven't had this much fun in a game in a long time. Well done Nintendo!
@Zuljaras oh, ok. That makes sense😁👍
